Surgical Mask Storage Case
thingiverse
I was asked via Facebook to assist a nursing home that desperately needed 1,000 protective pouches to store face masks. In addition to many shortages, facemasks are in short supply so the NHE (policy makers for the NHS) suggested that masks can be reused. After a late night and some help from my young daughter, we came up with this simple design. After printing for 160 hours plus, we delivered 50 of these little cases to a very happy lady at the nursing home last week, eliminating the need for the 1,000 pouches. A nurse also requested some in Canada, so I shared the design with 3D Printing Canada where some members are looking to help out. Printed at 80mm/s 20% infill (for speed) Skirt Layer height 0.26mm (finer if you have time) Printed well with PLA and also worked with PETG A plain lid is included so these cases can be personalized for the users. Letters serve a second function - they make it easier to open the lid. Once the lid is slid on, I found leaving it on instead of fully withdrawing is much faster. Things to watch out for - warping will definitely affect the little grooves that carry the lid Printing too fast will also cause problems with lid functionality Note: I've increased the depth to 10.5mm when slicing which improves the lid and gives a little more depth I hope it helps. Happy printing, stay safe.
