Surgical Face Mask Extension
thingiverse
A friend of mine, a nurse who works tirelessly in a hospital, reached out and asked if I could create something to alleviate the discomfort she was experiencing from wearing her mask all day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The straps on her mask were digging into her ears, causing unnecessary pain. She had tried existing designs but wasn't entirely satisfied with them, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and design a custom solution. After testing various lengths of the design with the hospital team, we found that an average length worked best for everyone involved. While I appreciate the enthusiasm for this project, I want to be upfront about my limitations - I'm not equipped to print these designs on a large scale due to the overwhelming demand. However, I'm happy to provide the files as is, and you're free to modify them using a slicer program if needed. The design itself has a thickness of 0.84 mm, which allows for a layer height of 0.28 mm at three layers.
