Surfboard Modem Fan
thingiverse
80mm fan based fan mount (and optional shroud) for Surfboard SBG6580 (and possibly other) cable modems is built. Heat kills any electronics and I was uncomfortable with my shiny new cable modem running as hot as it does, non-stop day and night. A decent mix of functionality and looks was bashed together in a short time frame. Enjoy. Print Settings: Rafts are not needed. Supports are not required. Resolution is anything the user wants. Infill can be any percentage chosen by the maker. Notes indicate no rafts or supports are necessary, with 10% infill and two perimeters being just fine for me (three bottom and top layers are also my usual choice). Post-Printing: Any 12vdc source can work; it's up to you. A fan filter is recommended to prevent dirt and dust from entering the modem when running the fan. My build features an extension connected to its own fan channel on the PC controller. With the fan controlled by the controller, it can be stepped down to the quietest setting available.
