Surfboard fins 757 (Afterburners)
thingiverse
The design of these fins draws inspiration from an old fin concept known as the 757 fin, which bears a striking resemblance to the basic shape of a jumbo jet wing. I've incorporated three slots into the outer fins to reduce drag, but the real reason behind this addition is to introduce something new and innovative, earning them the nickname "Afterburners." When printing these fins, I position them upright with the leading edge facing down towards the bed, and then apply a coat of varnish for added protection. Although I've successfully tested these fins in the water, they failed during my second wave, snapping off at the bottom turn just above the tabs. Printed using PLA+ with 50% infill, it's clear that they're not strong enough; however, I plan to revisit this project once the printed surfboard is complete.
