Surfboard - BoardCAD Thruster

Surfboard - BoardCAD Thruster

thingiverse

This 53-piece surfboard model, spread across 14 plates for printing, employs the default thruster shape from open source GPL'd software BoardCAD (http://boardcad.com/). Initial attempts at ABS printing faced warping and cracking issues midway, prompting help requests for experimenting with different materials and slicing settings. The goal is to achieve a thin surface with minimal internal structure while maintaining shape during assembly and glassing stand placement. Successful plate 1 prints and fitment are encouraged to be shared. Although not considering 3D printing practical or efficient for surfboards, the concept explores optimizing internal structures, preferably mimicking bone-like cell networks. Current slicing software lacks bone infill, but future updates may rectify this. For now, hacking current options could approximate desired density variations. Ultimately, accurate warp-free prints are sought for assembly and glassing. Assistance with material and setting experiments is appreciated.
