Surface Power Cord Fixer
thingiverse
I grew tired of my Surface Laptop's power connector pulling off due to it's weak magnet, so created a mount with extra magnets to make it stick better. I used 15 mm magnets, and have included a 8 mm size, but I will create mounts for other sizes, if there's demand. IF you have a 6 mm drill bit, you may want to clean out the hole to make inserting the power cable easier. Slide the power connector in until the cord edge is flush with the mount. Check the polarity of your magnets against the case or cord before adding. I found the friction fit, in addition to the magnet in the cord, held the magnets in place. My Surface Laptop and Surface Pro 7 both have a beveled edge so you'll want to rotate the cable to align the angle of the connector with the case. With the mount assembled and plugged into your surface, rotate the mount as far as it goes an check to make sure it has good adhesion. You'll want to use it in the same position, so you don't have to rotate it every time you swap sides. The 8 mm angled mount works best if you need to set your Laptop or on a counter. If you don't have a Laptop or Book, the larger magnets have more pull. Use the non-angled mount if you need to easily flip between cord forward & cord back.
Like my work?
