A variable section sweep was tested using conics, driving multiple dimensions through graph evaluation. The resulting graphs were also conic in nature. This innovative lofting technique generates fully parametric surfaces and is a robust method. It was developed by Roy A. Liming of North American Aviation. Notably, the P51 Mustang became the first fighter to incorporate this design approach with its fuselage.
