Sur-ron mudflap clamp / mudguard
thingiverse
This is a clamp designed specifically for creating a mudflap on the Sur-Ron electric bike, aimed at safeguarding the rear shock and linkage. Crafted with a lip to prevent the material from folding into the linkage and making contact with it. Cut up something suitable (I used a rubber tile) and secure it to the bike using these clamps. You will utilize the 2 existing bolt holes in the swingarm and the 2 existing posts at the back of the tail light for secure placement. To create this mudflap, you will need: - 2 longer M5 Bolts (25mm long) - Optionally, a couple washers - Some sort of material such as a rubber tile, cut to approximately 280mm x 130mm I am using 300mm x 130mm in the picture, but it is slightly too long. It can be shorter as long as it allows full shock travel. Install it with the bike on a stand to verify. There are three base files available, each with different angles. The difference is demonstrated in an image above. The closest visually appealing angle looks best, but I encountered some rubbing at full compression and this could cause paint wear over time. The furthest angle should not have any rubbing issues but might cause the material to fold incorrectly if it is a bit short. I suggest using the medium angle first, then check for rubbing after a ride and adjust as needed. To print your mudflap, you will need 1x Base file, 1x Base Clamp file, and 1x Tail Light Clamp file. Cut the material to size, lay the base clamp and tail light clamp on it as templates to poke or drill holes through. Remove the existing M5 bolt on the swingarm that holds the rear brake line clamp. Install the base piece, followed by the material you are using, the base clamp, the hose line clamp, and the 2 new M5 bolts. For the tail light end, remove the 2 existing nuts at the back of the tail light, slip the material over, then attach the tail light clamp. You may need to squeeze it slightly to expose the threads enough to reinstall the nuts. If you cannot get it on, omit the clamp and use a couple washers instead.
