Support for diy soil moisture sensor
thingiverse
A straightforward tool to monitor two nails' moisture levels. Customize the Scad file per your needs. Connect one wire from each nail to an Arduino- an activated digital output (5 volts) to the first, and a resistor (10k standard) to ground, with another wire linking the resistor and ground to an analog input. The Arduino will provide moisture readings on a scale of 0 to 1024, where 0 indicates dry air and 750-850 signifies water. Note that this sensor is sensitive not just to water but also temperature (approximately 0.2 to 0.3 coefficient) and salt concentration. For accurate readings, use the DIY moisture sensor for plant soil monitoring or checking if a reservoir is full/empty; however, be cautious of nail damage due to electrolysis- keep measurement frequency low, like once every 10-15 minutes.
