This is a basic piece I use to support 3mm plexiglass covers for my printer. A larger picture illustrates the concept. The supports shown in it are an older design. To be mounted on the lower 2020-profiles, no special printing requirements are necessary. Plexiglass is suitable to keep the printing area warm enough for ABS and other warp-sensitive materials. It also has (at least for me) a significant advantage - you can easily monitor the internals from all sides.
