Simulations reveal the structure of a supernova remnant after 500 years. The green outline highlights the boundary of the expelled material, where the Rayleigh-Taylor instability is evident. Inner and outer purple contours, visible through the translucent layer, indicate the position of reverse and forward shock waves. An alternate version displays just one octant, allowing for a clearer view of the layered structure. Research published in Ferrand et al 2019 utilized the thermonuclear model N100 from Seitenzahl et al 2013 as initial conditions to simulate this phenomenon.
