SuperNova Desk Lamp

This is my take on the Ikea PS 2014 lamp. Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RXVUIRDeCo https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL8HSYM_y-UMkDpXJz5ISeGAkuPs9R2d1 After searching for a small desk lamp in this style, I decided to draw it myself. It stands 230mm tall and is 150mm in diameter. It looks great and works well. You will need patience and a well-calibrated printer. I don't think this design will scale, so leave it at 100%. I have included STEP files to help you modify or remix the design if you wish. The SolidWorks files are not available as I use custom macros that won't work for others. A PDF build manual with lots of pictures is also included. Have fun! Print Settings: Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 & 0.25 Infill: 10 - 15% Notes: The top and central segments will need support. I have included a picture of my simplify3D supports. I printed the segments in batches of ten as that's all that would fit on my mini. I used a 0.25 layer height for all parts except the arms, which were at 0.15 due to small details that help with fitment. I didn't need a raft for the segments as the PEI sheet on my mini sticks well. You may need rafts for the segments. It's worth printing a few test parts before committing to the entire project to see how it goes together for you. Post-Printing: Minor clean up You may need minor clean up inside the segment holes. I needed to scrape out around 50% of the segment location holes due to minor sagging. It's not recommended to put supports in the holes as it would be difficult to clean up. How I Designed This: Drawn in SolidWorks This design was created in SolidWorks, and I used screen grabs from the software to help with the instructions.
