Supernatural Spirits and a Sacred Tree

myminifactory

A delicate gypsum wall panel relief depicts a small winged guardian spirit donning a horned headdress and turning left, its hand grasping a branch firmly. This ancient artwork originates from the opulent palace of Ashurnasirpal 2 in Kalhu, now known as Nimrud. Interestingly, it is an exact replica of the original limestone sculpture housed at The British Museum in London.
