Supernatural Demon Blade
thingiverse
I'm heading out with my girlfriend to a Halloween Costume party dressed as Dean Winchester from Supernatural, but with a twist - she's a female Dean, and I'm a vampire! My professional teeth set me up perfectly for this role, except that I wish I'd had them earlier so I could've been Dean without any compromise. All the iconic weapons from the show caught my eye, but one stood out as a symbol of Dean: the Demon Blade. It's an easy design to print and extremely recognizable due to its popularity. Surprisingly, when I searched for existing models, none matched my vision of the Demon Blade. So, the night before the party, I designed this model and printed it on my DaVinci Jr. 1.0 while we were sleeping! The print job took a respectable 7 minutes and 17 seconds to complete, and the result was spot-on. I had initially added more details to the hilt of the handle but had to remove them so that the handle could be printed upright. This required working within my printer's constraints - its print bed is only 6 inches by 6 inches. The "tang" part of the handle is partially inserted, and I'm confident it will stay in place without glue due to the tolerances on my printer. In the future, I plan to sand and paint this model to make it look even more authentic! Here are the print settings: Printer: DaVinci Jr. 1.0 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Excellent Infill: 10% (minimum) I printed the blade on its back, with the knuckle guard facing upwards. The angle is quite steep, but my printer handled it without any issues. I was able to print the handle standing upright without needing any supports.
