This is a 3.5-inch to 2.5-inch adapter designed specifically for Supermicro servers, replacing the bracket in part number MCP-220-00043-0N. Printing this allows you to use a 2.5-inch drive in your current 3.5-inch drive tray. Note that some 3.5-inch drive trays lack 2.5-inch mounting holes, but the two 2.5-inch mounting screw holes and push supports are sufficient, as shown in the pictures. Materials needed: * 3x M3 hex nuts * 3x M3 x 6mm flat head screws * 2-4x M3 x 4mm flat head screws (standard SDD screws) The current STL file is designed for ~7mm thick SSDs. To use thicker drives, simply cut the supports under the SSD in the pictures down accordingly; everything else remains the same. A .step file is included to facilitate this modification. A small support is built-in for the middle screw hole alignment peg on one side, which will need to be trimmed off so the peg fits in the drive tray hole. This adapter is similar to a thing on Thingiverse, but it has several major differences and advantages: 1. It minimizes airflow impedance, 2. It can handle 2.5-inch drives up to about 20mm thick with simple modification, 3. It features printed-in countersinks and nut-pressing features. Update: The "..._2" STL file includes thinner under-drive supports to save plastic, while the "..._3" STL is similar but overall shorter. It's currently configured for 7mm thick drives, but can accommodate up to 11mm thick SFF drives with the mentioned modifications.
