The drone propeller was modeled after the Supermarine 371-I airfoil coordinates. I tested it on the Micro Drone Propeller Thrust Testing Jig, and you can view the results below. I printed the part using a slow speed print setting, a 0.2mm nozzle at a 0.04mm layer height. Afterward, I cleaned the final part with the help of a Precision Knife to remove any excess material. Next, I used a 500 grit sandpaper to finish the propeller, giving it a smooth surface. Here are the thrust readings for various voltage settings: - 1.5V => 12.12 grams - 2V => 18.35 grams - 2.5V => 27.49 grams - 3V => 34.42 grams The downloadable files include all test images, as well as six text files containing the airfoil coordinates used in the build, STL files, and SLDPRT files. If you'd like to try this propeller out, make sure to get an 8520 coreless motor. You should use the SLDPRT files if you want to customize the model to suit your needs. The airfoil was plotted using matplotlib in Python.
