You can find all my other LED designs here: http://www.thingiverse.com/groups/things-with-leds/things This is an extruded LED Superman Logo that I printed on my dual-extruder 3D printer. To make it, I took a JPEG of the Superman Logo and imported it into Solidworks to trace the design. Then, I extruded and filleted the logo to create a standalone STL file for use in dual-extrusion printing. Next, I designed a plate around the Superman Logo, added holes for screws, and saved that as its own STL file. Finally, I created a shell to encase both the plate and the logo, with aligned screw holes so it can be attached securely to the plate. I printed the outer shell in regular PLA on my Rep 2 3D printer, while using the same black PLA for the plate. For the Superman Logo, I used BendLay from MatterHackers (check out the link below), which is an extremely translucent material that lets about 91% of light pass through. After printing, I wrapped an RGB LED strip around the inner shell and hooked it up to a remote-controlled IR receiver so you can turn it on and off with ease.
