Superior clamps for PCB vise / "Support for mobile phone repair"

<p>Transform this cheap "support for mobile phone repair" that you can find <a href="https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=support+mobile+phone+pcb">everywhere</a> into an amazing little vise just by swapping the crappy metal clamps.</p> <p>With these improved clamps you can now hold almost any small PCB with components on either side (caps up to 10mm), including those annoying angular headers - on<em>both surfaces</em>!</p> <p>The low profile, easy setup and decent weight of this support make it incredibly convenient to work under a lens. Perfect for soldering.</p> <p>The are two versions, depending on which support you got:</p> <ul> <li>clamps.stl: for a 4.8mm bar width</li> <li>clamps_5mm.stl: 5mm bar width</li> </ul> <p>Measure the bar width using a caliper and print the correct version to be sure. 4.8mm bars are used on the regular/common version (12x8cm), while 5mm bars are for the slightly larger ones (13x9cm).</p> <p>PLA is recommended, using a 0.4 nozzle and 0.2mm layers (or lower).</p> <p>The fit on the bars is "just right" (0.3mm of tolerance), which avoids any play while still allowing the clamps to move smoothly. Because the ends on most of those supports still have some burr, you might need to either file that off (recommended) or push them in with some force. Avoid scaling the model, since this would result in more play.</p> Category: Electronics
