SuperEllipse in OpenScad
thingiverse
Donb, a Thingiverse user (http://www.thingiverse.com/donb), contacted me about my surface/solids work reminding him of the SuperFormula. Intrigued by the challenge, I decided to code it up, starting with the SuperEllipse as an initial step. This implementation in OpenScad offers versatility, allowing rendering as a point cloud, wireframe or polyhedron. The vital file is superellipse.scad, featuring the 'superellipse()' module with customizable parameters for various shapes. Despite generating 2-manifold objects, CSG operations prove expensive. Download the .scad files, tweak parameters, view images, generate .stl files for preferred shapes, and print them out to enjoy the results.
With this file you will be able to print SuperEllipse in OpenScad with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on SuperEllipse in OpenScad.
