The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe's Super Chief, a renowned named passenger train, operated between Los Angeles and Chicago from 1936 to 1971. Known as the "train of the stars," it carried many celebrities and offered gourmet meals on board. Initially weekly, its frequency increased to twice weekly by 1938 and daily after 1948.
