Super Strong Machinist Vice
myminifactory
I recently acquired a mini mill but my existing vice was utterly useless. This milling vice stood out to me as highly functional and fit perfectly within my budget. The steel version I referenced on Amazon is available for those who want to see it in action: http://amzn.to/28MwWtd. What truly makes this design robust are the steel plates that have been carefully cut to size and precisely glued into place, allowing forces to be evenly distributed. Check out the remarkable picture of a tin can I was able to crush using this vice. To help with assembly, I've included a printable layover sheet for the face plates. Another notable feature of this vice is its ability to be used in reverse for clamping large objects from within. Additionally, the main lead screw doesn't move as the slide moves along, making it easier to access the mill underneath.
