Super Stars, commonly known as Starmen, Invincible Stars, or simply Stars, play a significant role in numerous Mario games such as the Super Mario series and the Mario Kart series. When players obtain a Star, they instantly become invulnerable to any damage. The user is temporarily shielded from all harm, capable of effortlessly defeating anything while earning extra points, except for hazards that are inherently fatal even with power-ups (lava, pits, time-over, getting crushed, etc). Most projectiles or enemies coming into contact with the Star's user are destroyed, severely damaged, or knocked off screen, depending on their type and the specific game. The Star significantly boosts the speed of its user.
