Super simple semi-auto Z-probe for E3D type extruders
thingiverse
I whipped up a tiny Z-probe from an old musical birthday card's switch. It easily slides onto the nozzle and butts up against the heater block, giving me a PROBE_OFFSET that is strictly in the Z direction. I printed a small cone to glue on the button so my soldered wires wouldn't collide with the bed. This setup works flawlessly. By the way, if you're using a delta printer with Marlin firmware and encounter issues with G29 scraping across your build plate despite M48 providing good probe repeatability, make sure your distance to retract between probings is greater than your z offset.
