The North American F-100 Super Sabre, a supersonic jet fighter aircraft, served the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1954 to 1971 and the Air National Guard until 1979. As the first USAF fighter capable of supersonic speed in level flight, it was designed by North American Aviation as a higher-performance follow-up to the F-86 Sabre air superiority fighter. Adapted for fighter-bomber roles, the F-100 was replaced by the faster F-105 Thunderchief for strike missions in North Vietnam and provided close air support in South Vietnam until the A-7 Corsair II proved more efficient. Serving other NATO air forces and U.S. allies, the F-100 earned the nickname "Hun," a shortened version of its model number. The F-100A entered service with the 479th Fighter Wing in September 1954 but faced six major accidents due to stability, structural, and hydraulic issues, leading to a fleet grounding until February 1955. The 479th became operational in September 1955, but the F-100A was phased out by 1958 as it left active duty in 1961 after 47 major accidents. The F-100C addressed TAC's fighter-bomber request, entering service in July 1955 with the 450th Fighter Wing. Despite performance improvements, the F-100C suffered from compressor stalls and other issues, but was considered an excellent platform for nuclear toss bombing due to its high speed. Inertia coupling problems were partially addressed through yaw and pitch dampers. This model features a Poser figure with 81,726 polygons, allowing for canopy opening and closing, tail rudder rotation, airbrake operation, wing flap and aileron movement, rear elevator control, and the hiding or showing of various components like landing gear, wing tanks, bombs, and pylons. The textures include a 4096*4096 color texture (USAF markings), bump map, and spectacular map, as well as interior and transparency textures for the cockpit and canopy. Compatible with Poser 5 and above, this model was originally created by Anders Lejczak.
