I used a heavy-duty C14 connector I salvaged from a computer power supply and a 15-amp toggle switch from my local hardware store to create this power supply cover for use with Sunhokey Prusa i3 acrylic, which can likely be applied to other designs as well. When wiring, I suggest using thicker gauge wire than the standard 18AWG commonly provided with most computers, which was not sufficient in my case when both my heated bed and extruder were on, causing the 18AWG power cord to heat up. Using a heavier 14 gauge cable instead effectively addressed this issue. One clever benefit of adding a dedicated power switch to my printer is that I can now disconnect it from my computer during shutdowns, unlike before when it would remain powered on and still cabled due to drawing 5v power through the USB connection. By simply cutting or isolating the +5v line (usually indicated by the red wire), but checking your specific cable's pinout first, the printer will function exclusively from its power supply when connected to a computer. This ensures complete disconnection and shutdown even when still physically linked to my PC via USB cables.
