Sundial

myminifactory

The convex outer side of the half dome shaped sundial is bordered by eleven radial lines that divide the space into twelve equal parts. A vertical rod, positioned at right angles to the center, serves as the indicator. As the sun moves, its shadow falls on one of these radial lines, allowing for a rough estimate of time. This method of dividing time between sunrise and sunset into twelve segments was employed by the ancient Mesopotamians during the Sumerian era. The sundial's design is commonly referred to as the Babylonian dial due to its widespread use in that region.
