I chose a 12v sealed lead acid battery because it was readily available and relatively durable. You may want to replace it, but I believe it works well enough for most applications. As with any battery type, you'll need a voltage readout to prevent over-discharging the battery. DISCLAIMER: This device is extremely bright, capable of igniting paper on fire when in close proximity. Exercise extreme caution!
