Sunbeam FoodSaver is a Great Machine but the Design Falls Short in One Crucial Area - The Release Button. Thin Buttons Are Prone to Breaking After Heavy Use, Causing Frustration for Users. To Improve the Situation, I Set Out to Redesign the Release Button Area Using Advanced 3D Printing Techniques and Materials. My Goal Was to Create a Durable and Reliable Component That Would Withstand the Test of Time. After Conducting Multiple Trials and Testing Different Designs, I Finalized a Revised Version of the Release Button that Is Stronger and More Resilient Than Its Predecessor. The Key to Success Lies in the Strategic Placement of Supports and the Optimal Use of ABS Plastic. For Added Durability, I Decided to Print the New Design in Nylon Instead of ABS, Hoping to Extend Its Lifespan. While the Results Are Promising, Only Time Will Tell How Well the Part Holds Up Under Heavy Use. To Ensure a Smooth Finish and a Perfect Match with the Outside Case, I Employed Vapour Smoothing Techniques to Remove Any Imperfections and Achieve a High-Gloss Appearance. The Result Is a Beautifully Crafted Component That Not Only Functions Flawlessly But Also Looks Impressive.
