Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) was the pioneer of China's modern democratic revolution and was known as the "Father of the Republic of China." He founded the China Alliance, promoted the success of the Revolution of 1911, ended China's two thousand years of feudal autocratic monarchy, and established the Republic of China. Sun Yat-sen advocated the Three People's Principles, namely nationalism, civil rights and people's livelihood, which had a profound impact on China's modernization process. After his death, China's political situation remained turbulent, but his ideals of national independence and democratic politics have always inspired later generations.
