The Sun-Loving Solar Panel Project - A Step Forward in Arduino Development Version 1, now retired, served as a proof of concept, a stepping stone to achieving true self-sufficiency. Convinced that continuous learning and innovation were essential, I decided to take the next logical step and design a new solar panel. The similarities between the original and the upgraded solar panels are unmistakable; they operate on identical principles. However, key improvements distinguish this second version from its predecessor: 1. A significant change occurred with the replacement of the Arduino Nano with an Arduino Pro Mini - a deliberate decision to enhance efficiency and streamline operations. 2. Mounting the new solar panel in an equatorial position should have the dual effect of reducing servo usage while promoting consistent sunlight absorption throughout the day. 3. Another crucial upgrade is the introduction of super capacitors, a notable change from the previous LIPO-battery setup; this decision is largely driven by simplicity and the elimination of unnecessary complications. 4. I've taken a deliberate step forward with the inclusion of a real-time clock in the system's design; this feature further elevses the level of sophistication within the overall system. My current coding progress remains a work-in-progress, awaiting the perfect balance to effectively reduce power usage - The initial approach is through a basic driver code, I am eager for users to explore and push boundaries on how to minimize the panel's power requirements.
