Robot-sumo, or pepe-sumo, is a competitive sport where two robots clash in a circular arena, their goal to push each other out with force and finesse, reminiscent of traditional sumo wrestling. The robots themselves are known as sumobots. The engineering challenges faced by these robots include locating their opponent, usually accomplished through infrared or ultrasonic sensors that detect the presence and position of the opposing robot. They must also navigate the arena's perimeter without crossing over into no-man's land, which is typically achieved using edge-detecting sensors. In most sumobot competitions, the preferred "weapon" of choice is a sturdy angled blade situated at the front of the robot, often tilted at approximately a 45-degree angle towards its rear. This blade can be adjusted to varying heights in order to adapt to different tactical situations.
