Summer Infant Metal Expansion 6 Foot Wide Walk-Thru Gate (27284Z) Latch
thingiverse
I purchased this "Summer Infant" gate several years ago. Currently, it functions as a pet barrier rather than an infant enclosure. Generally speaking, the product is of good quality and well-designed, apart from the plastic latch. It was created so that you can secure it to prevent your child from being able to lift up the gate and swing it open, but it was made from thin and fragile plastic, and I ended up breaking it within days of installing it. Since my dog is unlikely to be intelligent or strong enough to raise the gate, I don't really need it to be secured in place anyway, but the broken latch looked unsightly and had a sharp edge where it had been broken. I decided to design and 3D print a replacement piece to address those issues. If you happen to have the same issue with the same product, you will need to drill out the metal posts that connect the old latch to the gate, and find suitable bolts and nuts to replace them with. The top of the latch is slightly wider than the bottom, so your bolts will need to be a bit different lengths. Personally, I simply found two that were close, and trimmed them to size.
