One of the key lessons that FPAN brings to groups is a hands-on educational experience in understanding Florida's prehistoric pottery. At the Wild Florida Explorers summer camp at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, campers got the chance to give making prehistoric pottery a try using air dry clay. Campers learned about how archaeologists use pottery to grasp regionality and temporality in the past, as well as how archaeologists can make conclusions from information collected from thousands upon thousands of pot sherds. The bottom line is that information is the ultimate goal! The campers were divided into groups and had to incorporate specific abstract symbols into their pottery based on which group they were assigned to. Can you identify the different groups based on the visible decoration on these pots?
