NOT FOR CHILDREN! I was reminiscing about an ancient toy called a Button Spinner, supposedly dating back to 500 BC. I used to craft and play with those when I was a kid. Lately, I've been thinking about some fun-to-make hand powered fans here in the Southern USA, where heat indices have been soaring over 100F. So I had a thought - "What would be the simplest yet most amusing way to make a human powered fan?" I merged that idea with memories of Button Spinners and came up with this... A Button Spinner, but instead of a button, it's a squirrel cage fan. It does move some air! Don't trade in your AC for one just yet. It works, makes great noise, and is fun to play with. However, I stress that this thing can be quite hazardous. No idea how fast that fan is spinning or the centrifugal force that could rip it apart, blind you, or worse! Be careful, safety first, use eye protection, and definitely don't let kids do this! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Z99mxMOn6go" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
