Suction Cup replacement for inside-aquarium filter "Eheim pickup"
thingiverse
To avoid the hassle of hardening suction cups, I switched to Neodymium magnets for my fish tank filter. These strong magnets require custom adapters on both the filter and a carriage unit outside the tank. The project is ongoing, but serves as inspiration for others. I chose natural PLA for non-toxic materials, but embedded magnets in silicone to prevent rusting. Be cautious when handling magnets, as they can be dangerous for children and cause injury if not handled properly. When attaching the filter, take care not to drop magnets on tank glass. Polarity is important when assembling magnet pairs. Always test the carriage unit with a spacer between it and the filter to prevent damage. Print all parts with top-facing magnet holes, as adapters for the top and bottom of the filter differ in diameter.
