Subway Sandwich

The sandwich lay on the counter, its layers perfectly visible through the clear wrap that covered it. The bread, soft and lightly toasted, provided a gentle cradle for the assortment of meats and cheeses inside. Thinly sliced turkey breast sat atop a bed of crisp lettuce, its edges slightly wilted from being stored in the refrigerator overnight. Two slices of tomato added a pop of color to the dish, their red hue standing out against the duller tones of the meat and cheese. A few strips of bacon, crispy and golden brown, added a smoky flavor to the mix, while a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese added a tangy kick. The whole thing was held together by a single strip of plastic wrap, its transparent surface reflecting the light in a subtle sheen.
