Suburban SD2 Top Burner Knob Shaft

Last summer, our family embarked on an unforgettable adventure down the St-Laurent North Coast all the way to the remote paradise of Natashquan, surrounded by breathtaking sandy beaches and untamed rivers. Our trusty 2005 Sprinter RV was packed with bicycles and sea kayaks, ready for action. However, disaster struck when a pot on the gas stove suddenly spilled, leaving a few drops on the shaft of one of the two burner knobs. When I tried to use that burner again, it got stuck fast. With no access to replacement parts while on the road, I had to improvise and find an alternative solution. Upon our return home, I began searching for replacement parts from the manufacturer, but my efforts were met with disappointment - they didn't have any available. I even scoured local RV stores, hoping to find a leftover part or purchase a whole new stove, but nothing seemed feasible. Feeling defeated, I turned to my DIY skills and decided to tackle the problem head-on. With great care, I disassembled the burner, cleaned it thoroughly, and finally managed to unlock the conical valve. However, in doing so, I discovered that the shaft behind the knob had broken its pin, which was necessary for locking into place with the conical valve. In short, I needed a brand new shaft - time to put my 3D printer to good use. A crucial note: make sure you turn off the gas supply before attempting any repairs. With the replacement shaft in hand, the knob now locks securely in the off position, requires a push to unlock, and can be turned to open the gas flow - just like the original design. What a relief!
