Suburban 3 burner RV cooktop supports
thingiverse
The "Suburban" brand 3 burner propane cooktop is in many popup campers. In particular, it's used in most of the recent Forest River campers. Ours is a 2318G model, but I've looked at a bunch of other used ones at local RV dealerships, and they all are showing the same issue... When the lid of the stove is lowered, you're likely to set things on it... This stresses the unsupported center of the thin sheet metal stove cover, which lines up perfectly with a few holes in the side metal parts, where the metal is the weakest. This causes the top to buckle and the sides to get distorted and out of shape as you try to bend it back into shape. Go into any used Forest River popup camper, and you will see signs of this. These little brackets get mounted through those unused holes to support the lid off of the cooktop and the countertop (left side only). The "Right" bracket is to be used on the right side of the lid (when facing it). The "Left" bracket adds an extra extension which supports the lid from the countertop as well. You can use two "Right" brackets if you don't want to do this. The Right one omits the portion of the design that extends down to the countertop, as that would interfere with the hinge mechanism. I used 4mm holes for the screws, and have hex cutouts on the back to somewhat captively hold the nuts to make installation easier. I use 6-32 screws, because i have a bunch of them, but you could certainly use smaller screws. 6-32 is about equal to the size of the hole in the cooktop metal. If they are printed on their sides, they should not need any support material. I printed mine at 50% infill, since it seemed like it might need more internal support. You may need to use a higher temperature filament, or print with another method in practice, as I am not sure how close these will get to the heat of the burners yet, or temperatures while the camper is sitting in the hot sunlight. YMMV.
