My dad left me a collection of beautiful wood after he passed away. One piece was incredibly dense and I had it crafted into a bespoke shift knob for my Subaru. However, there's one catch: standard Subaru shift knobs feature a small plastic component at the end that attaches to the boot cover. If you're looking to build your own shift knob from scratch, simply screw this plastic piece onto the shifter before attaching the shift knob and adjust it until both parts are aligned side by side. Then pull the boot over the raised lip on the plastic piece to secure it in place.
