I'm sharing some details about the inner workings of my headlight washer spray unit. My ride is a second-generation pre-facelift model from 2003 to 2005, but this part should also fit the first-gen Forester just fine. I picked up the car with one of these assemblies missing - apparently, the washer had been ripped off and the internal piece was gone. So, I took it upon myself to recreate the other one. I used my 3D printer to create a duplicate in ABS plastic, complete with supports and a raft for stability. The only way to get a decent print on this design is to have it lying flat on its back. After printing, I found an o-ring that fit perfectly and installed it. To my relief, the system seems to be working just fine now. As for aesthetics, let's just say the underside of the unit could use some TLC - but all that really needs attention is a bit of sanding to smooth out the channel where the o-ring resides.
