Subaru EJ series rear main seal installer
thingiverse
This is a tool to install the rear main seal on a Subaru EJ-series engine. Dimensions are based off of the Subaru SST, with revisions to improve strength. The tool includes the subtle lip to recess the seal slightly into the block so that the rear-most seal surface will not rub against the flywheel or pressure plate. I recommend printing this with the seal side facing the build plate. This is my first Thing so I didn't realize it would upload upside down. If you ever held the OEM Subaru SST, you know it's quite hefty. I wouldn't usually recommend 100% infill, but you may find it necessary for durability. Use a rubber-faced dead blow with this tool or else you'll likely crack it. Remember to lubricate the inner seal surface where it touches the crankshaft, and pack that seal with petroleum jelly (vaseline) to decrease the chances of that spring from popping out. Happy wrenching!
