Subaru EJ Rear Main Seal Press

Subaru EJ Rear Main Seal Press

Most of the rear main seal presses I've found require you to hit the press with a hammer or mallet to tap the seal in.  While this does work, it's easy to get the seal crooked or in a little too far.  So, I decided to take a different approach and make one that uses the flywheel bolts to press the seal into place.  Just tighten the 4 bolts in a cross pattern a little at a time to evenly press the seal into place.  The lip on the press is 4mm deep and is designed to stop once the seal is flush with the edge of the crank case.  See the photos for the end result on a 2003 WRX 2.0L engine.I've only tested with the one 2.0L (EJ205) engine and the factory flywheel bolts.  This should work fine on an EJ255 or EJ257 as well.  I think this will also work on the naturally aspirated EJ253 and possible other EJ engines but I don't have one right now to check.  All of the Subarus I work on are manuals so I'm not sure if this will work with the automatic flex plate bolts.  It may but I haven't tested it.  I printed this in PLA with 31% gyroid infill.  Didn't have any issues with it deforming when I pressed the seal in.  You could probably go a little less without any issues.Let me know if you find this needs any tweaks and what engines you use it on.
