The most straightforward device ever invented is also ridiculously cheap. A factory-grade tool for removing valve shims from DOHC heads costs hundreds of dollars, but this clever gadget will set you back just 10 cents! Simply press down on the lifter with the cam, then insert this tiny tool underneath to hold it in place. With a gentle rotation of the cam, move it out of your way and use a magnet to easily scoop up the shim. That's all there is to it - simplicity at its finest.
