Center Cap Retaining Ring ... Suitable for early model Subaru 'Wagon Wheels' (EA81 & 82 models) Trying out these as a direct replacement for the old retainer ring has not been attempted yet. Working on another version which is due to be released (TBA). Thanks, Bantum ... Print Settings Printer Brand: Printer: Up! Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: Fine Infill: Solid Filament: NA Nylon Notes: Make your choice of material to print in - e.g. : Nylon, ABS, etc ... Print out with face (flat edge) down... Be sure to print a full set... How I Designed This Dimensions taken from Original - Drawn in Sketchup, checked in Netfabb ... May revisit this design later ... (TBA) Printing The print quality is dependant on several factors: Thickness of layers. Type of plastic used. Temperature. Most common types of plastic: PLA (Polylactic Acid) - Not suitable for these applications due to its bio-degradable nature. ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) - Used by manufacturers for most parts, provides a decent finish and longevity. PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate) - Commonly used in plastic drink bottles. PC (Polycarbonate) - Used in Remote control Body shells. TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomers) - Rubber equivalent for flexible parts... Several more types of plastics exist, but the point remains... ABS works well for most applications and lasts similarly to the original if kept out of direct sunlight, and achieving a fine finish is possible by using 'vapouring' - (fumes from acetone). NYLON is recommended due to its stability in high temperatures commonly found in the wheel location. Print as many you need: Clean-up afterwards & remove any supports etc... Fitting After printing the retainer ring/s, check it's clean and ready for use... Remove wheel and ensure it's clean and ready... Insert retainer on wheel with flat surface facing inwards.( You may need to loosen/take the wheel off ) Feed the retainer ring into wheel center hole by slightly twisting, whilst pressing to fit... ( will add some photos later when I can ) Small tab locator should fit in groove on existing wheel. Do note that Not all wheels have these, so file off the tab if groove is not there ...) Once fitted, tap in Center cap...( can be done with wheel on or off the car ) Center cap should have metal clips on the back, make sure they engage correctly on lip of ring. ( It may be easier to put on/take off cap while wheel is removed... ) Put wheels back on car(if not already ) & go for a test run, make sure they're still there when you get back... Notes This is a first draft, will update later if necessary. Taken from an approximate measure up only... The white one is original - black copy. You may need to trim/file down one end to fit correctly. Retainer subject to change, as I may need to 'rescan' it later. Ciao, Bantum ... Edits First draft ... 2015 Generally revised... 2018
