Digitally reconstructed from an original fossil specimen (BCGD-27027), now on display at Beloit College in Beloit, WI, using cutting-edge NextEngine laser/texture scanning technology. Side-by-side photography enables visual comparison with the fossil and highlights key details, thanks to informative labels. To facilitate further research, a select number of high-resolution scans, such as this one, are made publicly available here, setting them apart from similar projects like Makerbot's Smilodon, which utilized 3D printing rather than direct digitization from an actual fossil specimen excavated from the ancient Rancho La Brea tar pits circa 1911.
