sub 1$ MINI enclosure
prusaprinters

This is my long-going workaround to not having an enclosure for ABS printing. And sometimes these simple things end up working best, so I'm posting it now after almost a year of testing.

All that's needed is 3-4 clamps to connect the latches of the cardboard box your MINI shipped in (it fits perfectly). I also made a connector to feed the filament into the box, which is optional since you can also feed it through the gap at the corner. The connector is designed to fit into a standard punch hole.

With this there are way less fumes than without a box, however I still recommend a good ventilation of course. Printing ABS without deformation has not been a issue since. Its main advantage compared to the famous ikea lack table enclosure is its simplicity of assembly and especially disassembly. The box can be folded flat and put away when not needed.

Of course, cardboard next to a 300 °C nozzle is always a stupid idea and this enclosure should only be used under constant observation!

I printed everything in ABS with 100% infill and a brim. This material in my opinion works best if you want to reuse the clamps as much as i do. Feel free to share your feedback.

Happy printing!
