We are a team of engineering students from Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy working closely with a 9-year-old girl named Anita who suffers from spastic quadriplegia, a subset of spastic cerebral palsy that severely affects all four limbs. The project was made possible through a collaboration between the Hackability association and the Hackability@PoliTo students team. Our partnership aimed to co-design tools with disabled individuals that would significantly improve their daily lives and promote active participation in society. Below, you'll find the 3D printed parts from our project. For more information on the project, please visit https://hackaday.io/project/25210-su-il-ripiano-su-il-morale. The team consists of: Matteo Monsello Lorenzo Galleani Alessandro Meneghini Eugenia Crisafulli Giacomo Petraglia Giovanni Malacarne Marcella Toma We noticed that Anita faced significant difficulties using her electric wheelchair's joystick, which limited her freedom and mobility. To address this issue, we designed a new joystick that would provide better grip and more suction-mounting capabilities on the existing joystick. Assembly is straightforward: simply glue the three parts together. Important note: if the adapter is too tight to fit into the base, make a small hole in the base with a needle to allow air to escape. Glifo_Mod We took inspiration from the GLIFO, a collaboration between OpenDot and TOG foundation, which helps Anita draw. We redesigned it to be stronger and more comfortable in her hands. To assemble Glifo_Mod, press a 4 mm nut into place using a soldering iron. Next, glue the Pen_Holder and Outer_Ring together, then attach a 4 mm bolt to the Flower_Handle. Finally, insert the Inner_Ring into the Outer_Ring. NinjaPillow To maintain Anita's correct posture and comfort level, we designed two NinjaPillows that fit onto her elbow holders. These pillows are made with flexible filament and 3D infill for a soft feel. We would like to thank Giuseppe Terruso for his assistance in designing the NinjaPillows. To print one for each side, follow these instructions: <https://www.instructables.com/id/Su-Il-Ripiano-Su-Il-Morale> Our team is proud of what we've accomplished, and we're grateful for the opportunity to work with Anita and make a positive impact on her life.
