Stylish W for Craft Project
thingiverse
To mend a broken wooden 'W' from her craft project, the user took a cell phone image with minimal break visibility. In GIMP, they erased the background, filled it white, and repaired the damage. Then, using Inkscape, they traced the object into a path. Importing this SVG geometry into FreeCAD, they deleted three minor noise paths before extruding to a 5mm height. After saving as STL, a netfabb repair was performed, followed by a 33% test print. An "enlarged" 80% print is currently in progress, and the final result will be a replica of the original wooden letter 'W'. A physical photo copy successfully restored!
