A rugged steam-powered mech inspired by the intense action of current mechanized steam war games was brought to life. The design combines elements from other Thingiverse creations as listed in the remix list, but the overall concept and most shapes were created solely by me. Articulated joints and a versatile waist make it possible for users to pose this mechanical warrior with precision. The torso comes in two distinct versions: one rigid, and another featuring a ball joint that allows rotation around the waist. This project is still a work in progress, but several redesigns have been made to improve its printability, and a single print is currently underway as I publish this update. If necessary, I will revisit the dimensions of the ball joints to ensure they are neither too tight nor loose. **5/11 Update:** Following a successful test print on my Ender 3, I was pleased with the overall design but encountered difficulties removing the feet from the raft due to the thin plates at the bottom. To resolve this issue, I redesigned the foot to feature beefier bottom pads. These changes are reflected in the updated STL files, which include only one file for the revised foot as both feet are identical. The joints were found to be a bit loose, and the lower leg's armor plate wasn't properly connected. To address these issues, I created an update that includes revised parts for the joints and the armor plates on the shins. Further refinement of the joint tolerances is also underway to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, I developed a redo file for the lower leg to prevent the small armor piece from falling off during printing. The hole for the joint has been made slightly smaller to improve the overall fit and reduce potential loose joints. **5/11 Update Part 2:** All parts have been replaced with new ones featuring tighter tolerances, which should provide better stability and make it easier to maintain poses. The original right and left feet, as well as lower legs, have been removed and replaced with single redo files for each. Printing two of each will suffice due to their symmetrical design. Following the redesigns, I successfully printed out this mechanical warrior (see my Make page for details). While most of the joints were fused together using a 3D pen, some parts still require improvement. The torso can twist slightly, and the elbow joints function well enough to allow for limited posing capabilities. My next step will be to print it again with the new revisions, after which I plan to focus on creating an even larger steam punkish mech inspired by one found on CG Trader.
