Sturgeon's Double-Piston Engine
grabcad
In an outdated machinery book, a Sturgeon engine is featured. The green piston compresses fuel into the chamber, while two orange pistons generate movement on a white shaft, also propelling the green piston. Located centrally in the chamber is the spark plug, and the exhaust hole is near the upper orange piston. This model was developed using Solidworks 2015 and displayed via Simlab Composer 6 Mechanical Edition. The video was edited into AVI/X264 and BMP formats before being remuxed to MP4 with MyMP4BoxGui. Gifs were created with PhotoScape, while IrfanView was used for rendering edits. The 3D-PDF, ZIM, and SIMLAB files are all animated, with the ZIM file viewable on iOS and Android devices via the free Simlab Viewer app. The model is available in various formats including Solidworks 2015, Simlab Composer 6, DAE, STEP, IGES, Parasolid, OBJ, 3D-PDF, SketchUp, 3DS, and ZIM.
